店の空間構造や機材の状態、PAエンジニアのセンスの違い等、バンド以外に要因があったのだろうと思うが、この晩のライブは今までになく、ベースのクリアな音が、少なくともフロア最前列まで届き、特にラスト1曲 Norhin' But Trouble の中間部では、フリージャズ的な繊細なニュアンスまではっきりと聴き取れ、あらためてこの曲の良さを見直したのでした。
…のちの9月15日、久しぶりの他店でのライブにて同じことを期待したのだが、そこでは従来どおり……、レンズ越しにはベースの細やかな指使いが見て取れるのに、そこから出ているはずの音のニュアンスは掻き消えて、フロアまで届いてはこなかったのでした。
だからこの晩のライブは、オーディエンスとして、貴重な体験だった。
